Guide to the Westside

A New Chapter in Brentwood

Brentwood has long held its place as one of LA’s most desirable neighborhoods, but it’s been more established than emerging. A few new openings are changing that and are breathing fresh life into the scene – bringing with them the perfect blend of charm, quality, and just the right amount of cool. Here’s what to know (before everyone else does):

MALOU COFFEE

Soft-opening April 5th, Malou is bringing its first location to Brentwood, and with it a sense of calm. “Malou” means “at peace” in Hawaiian, and that’s exactly the vibe. Think serene design, handcrafted coffee, and dangerously good baked goods, breakfast burritos, and avocado toast. Your new morning ritual just moved in. Stay tuned on progress via their Instagram, here.

GREAT WHITE

This LA-favorite is very close to opening its doors in Brentwood, bringing its signature Aussie-cool energy to the neighborhood. Breezy interiors, a simple yet elevated menu, and a design-forward vibe make it the kind of place where lunch meetings turn into an afternoon on the patio with a glass (or two) of natural wine. Check out the menu here.

TU MADRE

From simple street tacos to wildly reimagined classic, Tu Madre takes a playful approach to one of LA’s most beloved bites. Expect fresh ingredients, creative twists, and a lively ambiance that invites you to savor every bite. Check out the menu here.

BALTAIRE

Yes we know it’s not new, but have you experienced their Sunday brunch? It is as over-the-top as it gets with a live DJ, champagne carts, tableside Bloody Mary’s, caviar bumps, and a “secret” cinnamon roll prepared tableside. It’s decadent, dramatic, and somehow still tasteful. Trust us, Baltaire is not just for steak. Check out the menu and book your table here.

MATU KAI

If you know Matu in Beverly Hills, then you already know this one’s worth watching. Matu Kai is its sophisticated sister – still wagyu-forward, still meticulously crafted, but with a fresh twist on the menu. Coming very soon. Check out the menu and book your table for their opening weekend here.

GONE BANANAS BREAD

What started as a pandemic passion project is now a full-blown obsession, and Brentwood gets to claim the flagship. Gone Bananas Bread is serving up elevated takes on the nostalgic loaf, from OG banana bread to gluten-free, vegan, and decadent seasonal specials. Coming very soon. Check out their menu and order ahead here.

THE LAWN

The long-awaited reimagining of the corner at Montana and San Vicente is finally coming to life. Set to become Brentwood’s newest open-air gathering space, with restaurants, shops, and a laid-back, sun-drenched vibe. While the tenant list is still under wraps, we’re hearing whispers of a Community Goods coffee outpost (fingers crossed). We’re excited to see this open, just in time for peak outdoor season.
