Mar Vista has long been known as more of a residential retreat than a dining destination. The opening of Beethoven Market changes that.
Brought to life by Jeremy Adler (of Cobi’s) and chef Michael Leonard (of Felix), Beethoven Market blends Italian simplicity with a California vibe. It’s stylish without the spectacle and laid-back without losing intention. Housed in a former corner market on the corner of Beethoven and Palms, the space is warm and airy, with natural textures, generous greenery, and light that shifts beautifully from lunch to golden hour.

The menu is thoughtful, seasonal, fresh, and comforting. The pastas are handmade, the pizzas wood-fired, the roast chicken spun on a custom rotisserie. Standouts include the zucchini blossoms with herbed goat cheese, the linguine al limone, the rigatoni carbonara, a pizza with sausage and peppers, and a meyer lemon + clam pie that feels like summer in the best way.
The drinks echo the same philosophy. There’s a clean, coastal-leaning wine list (with lots of by-the-glass options, which we love) and cocktails that are inventive without being theatrical – the Vesper Dream, with olive oil-infused vodka, is a must. The bar, anchoring the main dining space, is framed by bottles, blooms, and a beautiful glow.
In a city of scene-y spots, Beethoven Market feels refreshingly rooted. It’s not trying to be the next hot spot. Beethoven Market was built by Mar Vista locals for the neighhborhood with the goal of elevating the everyday moments, with the kind of intention that makes those moments feel a little more special.
